Whenever I walk into a bakery, I don’t think too much. There are three classics I almost always go for. No need for trendy or overly creative pastries—real magic, for me, is found in these simple essentials.
1. The Butter Croissant 🥐
Nothing beats a good butter croissant. Flaky, crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside… it’s pure pleasure. What I love most is its perfect simplicity. A well-made croissant, with high-quality butter, can completely change your morning. It’s also the ultimate test of a good bakery.
2. The Pain au Chocolat 🍫
Some call it a “chocolatine,” but whatever the name, the experience is the same. The pain au chocolat is the perfect combination of flaky pastry and rich, melted chocolate. Those two chocolate bars inside, wrapped in golden layers of dough… it’s a classic that never disappoints. I usually choose it when I want something a little more indulgent.
3. The French Baguette 🥖
And finally, the foundation of it all: the baguette. A proper traditional baguette, with a crispy crust and a light, airy crumb, is essential. Whether it’s part of a meal or simply enjoyed with butter, it’s a daily staple. For me, a bakery without a great baguette simply doesn’t exist.
